アフリカのトルマリンは、何億年も前に、数百万から数千万年もの途方もなく長い年月の中、地殻内部の高温高圧などの特殊な環境で形成されたと考えられています。

そんな地球という壮大な物語の結晶そのものであるトルマリン、科学的に遠赤外線放射効果（遠赤外線が、人体に入射した際に、熱エネルギーに変換され、血流や細胞の代謝を促進する効果）が実証されたとする複数の研究報告もあるそうです。

IF
最高級の品質。 これらの宝石には、倍率10倍のルーペで見ても一切のインクルージョンが無い、もしくは見つけることが非常に困難な微細なインクルージョンや、同様に外部に微かなキズしかないクラリティです。こちらは流通量が非常に少ないグレードになります。

VVS
一般に流通している中での最高品質です。 天然石なので、ごく僅かな内包物などが10倍に拡大した場合に確認できますが、肉眼で間近で見ても一切の欠点がない品質です。流通量も少なく非常に高品質なものとして扱われています。

VS
上質。 10倍に拡大した際に、内包物や外部のキズなどがVVSより多く見られます。肉眼で念入りに間近でチェックした場合、僅かにそれらを確認できる場合があります。

SI 1
良質。 VSと比べ10倍に拡大した際に若干内包物が多くみられます。肉眼で間近で見た場合、わずかにそれらを確認できます。

SI 2
良質。 肉眼でわずかなインクルージョンや、外部のキズなど確認できますが、腕を伸ばした距離では、それらは実際には見えず、とても綺麗な宝石として扱われます。

SI1 / SI2 (Slightly Included): Good commercial quality. Inclusions may be seen under magnification or at close distance, but overall still visually appealing.
