美術的な価値も高い、世界で最も美しいとされるウルグアイ産のアメジストです。
濃厚なパープルの輝きの中、角度によってはピンクを帯びるような明るさもある、極めて鮮やかなアメジストです。

非加熱でこのような発色が得られるのはまれで、人工処理に頼らないナチュラルな美しさが魅力的で、ウルグアイはブラジルに隣接しながらも、より深く濃厚な紫やピンクのニュアンスを帯びるアメジストを産出することで知られています。

ウルグアイのアメジストは数千万年から1億年前の、南米大陸の地殻活動が活発化していた頃に、マグマが冷える過程でシリカや鉄などの成分を含む熱水が形成され、化学環境の変化などの影響を受けながら数十万年から数百万年もの途方もなく長い年月の中で結晶化したものと考えられています。

また、アメジストは古代エジプトでは主に王家に関わる人たちの大切な装飾品で、埋葬時には死者が来世で悪霊から守られるようにという理由からか、実際に王家の副葬品からアメジストは多数出土し、世界中の博物館にそれらは所蔵されています。また中世ヨーロッパでは、悪夢を追い払う護符とされてきました。それらの効力は科学的には解明されてはいないものの、実際に身近に置くだけでも精神的な浄化やクリアリングの効果があると現代でも言われています。また、実際にアメジストを枕元に置いたり、身につけて眠ると悪夢を見ずに熟睡できるようになったという報告も多数聞かれます。

VVS
一般に流通している中での最高品質です。 天然石なので、ごく僅かな内包物などが10倍に拡大した場合に確認できますが、肉眼で間近で見ても一切の欠点がない品質です。流通量も少なく非常に高品質なものとして扱われています。

VS
上質。 10倍に拡大した際に、内包物や外部のキズなどがVVSより多く見られます。肉眼で念入りに間近でチェックした場合、僅かにそれらを確認できる場合があります。

SI 1
良質。 VSと比べ10倍に拡大した際に若干内包物が多くみられます。肉眼で間近で見た場合、わずかにそれらを確認できます。

SI 2
良質。 肉眼でわずかなインクルージョンや、外部のキズなど確認できますが、腕を伸ばした距離では、それらは実際には見えず、とても綺麗な宝石として扱われます。

This is an exceptionally beautiful natural amethyst from Uruguay—considered by collectors and gem lovers to be among the finest in the world. Its rich, deep purple glow is accented with flashes of bright pink, depending on the angle and lighting, giving it a vivid and artistic quality rarely seen.

This stunning color is completely unenhanced—no heating or artificial treatment has been applied. Uruguayan amethysts are known for their deeper purples and pinkish undertones, setting them apart even from Brazilian stones. These crystals formed millions of years ago, possibly between tens of millions to 100 million years ago, during a period of intense tectonic activity. As magma cooled beneath the surface, silica-rich hydrothermal fluids containing iron and other trace elements gradually crystallized into the vibrant amethysts we see today.

In ancient Egypt, amethyst was a prized adornment of the royal family, often placed as a burial offering to protect the deceased from evil spirits in the afterlife. During the European Middle Ages, it was used as a talisman to ward off nightmares. Though such powers are not scientifically proven, many still believe in the calming and purifying effect of having an amethyst nearby. In fact, there are many modern accounts of people sleeping soundly and free from nightmares when they keep an amethyst near their bed or wear it while sleeping.
